A unit owner may improve the unit if it does not impair structural integrity, mechanical systems, or support. Changing the appearance of common elements or the exterior needs association permission. After acquiring an adjoining unit, an owner may remove an intervening partition (even if it is a common element) without that being an alteration of boundaries, so long as structure and systems are not impaired.
