Before an association may increase the annual budget in any single year it must give homeowners at least 48 hours' notice of the meeting, by posting in a common area, on the association website, by email, or by another method the bylaws use that actually reaches people. This section does not apply to an association incorporated under the South Carolina Nonprofit Corporation Act (Title 33 Ch. 31) — most incorporated HOAs sit outside this 48-hour clock and follow the Nonprofit Act's meeting-notice rules instead.
