A board election from among the members must be held at least once every 24 months. Board members serve without compensation unless the instruments say otherwise. No term longer than 4 years, but members may succeed themselves. A vacancy may be filled by a two-thirds vote of the remaining board until the next annual meeting, or until members holding 20 percent of the votes petition for a meeting (called within 30 days). The board elects a president, secretary, and treasurer from among its members. If no election is held within 90 days of when it was due, 20 percent of the members may sue to compel one.
